There is a new release today: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/nvidia-prime/0.5.

I plan to move to trusty soon and test this.

I wonder how much work it would be to make this package non-upstart/lightdm dependent. I'll come around to testing this myself at some point too.

Note that they started to make some changes in order to make this package non‑lightdm dependent.
