Thanks for filing this issue. I think this seems reasonable. Just curious, is there a reason why building the image locally does not work? Is it mainly a convenience factor or are there other technical challenges on your system?

There is the convenience factor of having the Docker image prebuilt, the management of Docker image versions, and of management tools that can monitor the Docker hub registry for automated updates.
