Possible update of spack-c2sm to utilize https://github.com/spack/spack/releases/tag/v1.0.2 #1061
Description
We are proceeding to port parts of ICON to AMD MI300. The latest uenv prgenv-gnu/25.07-6.3.3:v8 uses rocm@6.3.3, which is apparently a requirement. Unfortunately it also requires a more recent version of spack that the current 0.22.2 utilized in the latest spack-c2sm, e.g.,
==> Error: you need a newer Spack version to read the DB in '/user-environment'. The expected DB version is '7', but '8' was found.
ICON compiles for CPU with the older prgenv-gnu/25.4:v1 but we think this does not have sufficient support for the MI300.
Are there any plans to upgrade spack-c2sm to a post-1.0 spack ?
