Android support?

With the advent of Android TVs but also AR systems using android an UltraGrid version for that platform would be welcomed I think. Especially for viewing options. Alternatives do have considerable latency or are difficult to implement.

Are there any plans in that direction?

Unfortunately we don't have any imminent plans in this direction, at least as for the native Android application. There were rumors that Android 16 could run GUI applications. If so, it could be possible to look into it if it weren't possible to compile/run UltraGrid with that.

Besides that, as for the display-only - in term of latency, I've got quite satisfactory results with mpv and RTSP. UltraGrid can produce standard RTSP. But the mpv parameters must have been tweaked (disabling/reducing cache etc.). I was testing this actually on Apple iOS, but hopefully the Android variant would be capable as well.
