The open issues (GeoCoordinateSystem, Labeling System, SDK documentation) hopefully will be resolved in order not to become frustrating dead-ends... and maybe one day your project becomes an opensource foundation with CAD producers and other private entities securing future development the like to the benefit of end users.

The BRX API has both a static merge, and an instance merge which confused python
I had to rename them

From:

CvDbVAlignment is derived from Curve, so you should be able to use curve methods like

        vAlignment.getParamAtPoint
        vAlignment.getPointAtParam
        vAlignment.getPointAtDist

Remaining question is how one would find the local minimum/maximum within the arc segment. In your case it would be somewhere here.

One could iterate for the max vertical distance to a horizontal line, but I am looking for a smoother way to determine the sag/crest.

I run into trouble with ep2d = curvedElement.endPoint() called on an element from a vertical aligment. Manually pickes values do not seem to match. Gist is available for CvAlignmentAnnotate.py.

Cheers. Works as below. Malheuresement the entities drawn previously through Ed.Core are gone.
Without knowing anything about this topic I guess that it's due to some pieces being manager (TransientManager) and some not.

What I would like to achieve is to script an annotation style, which whenever I am happy with it (one hopefully not so distant day) may be enabled/disabled and also is rewritten once the vertical alignment view is moved/altered/erased etc. Am willing to read up on things and to study further.

The TransientManager probably causes a redraw, you may have to do GrDraw after.

If understood correctly all entities drawn through Db may be attached to the TransientManager, which in effect carries an index of the entity (the marker list in this case), thus allow to delete specific one and rewrite (for example text size) (a#). All entities from GrDraw are a fire and forget with lower overhead (b#). If this is the case I might as well go (a#) through the code adding Db entities to the list markers and clear all markers and redraw in main.

Right, I noticed BricsCAD erases temporaries when switching tabs
AutoCAD doesn’t, I don’t think you will be able to plot temporaries with either.

I’m actually not that familiar with TransientManager, just enough to write tests.
I think I have more to do, .NET has a ‘Transient’ object

Maybe I could create primitives as recommended and group them, so that they stay manageable within the drawing. This would I avoid all this trouble with visibility in vports + printability. One may shift/edit single labels etc.

On change of parts of the vertical alignment view one could then delete the group and redraw. If only moved, one should move the group if lighter to processing demands. Am new to all of this and maybe it's too much, but still fun. Have tried so far overrule => changing appearance of the object not suitable for this purpose.

How would I attach the group handle and OnChange of vertical alignment view delete/redraw that group? Hints appreciated.

The goal should be to minimize the time objects are opened for write, otherwise well, you see what can happen

is a convenience method and is exactly the same as

model` = Db.BlockTableRecord(db.modelSpaceId(), Db.OpenMode.kForWrite)
model.appendAcDbEntity()

except that Db.addToModelspace closes modelspace right away whereas the former keeps modelspace opened for write for the whole function
also

geoData = Db.GeoData(geoDataId, Db.OpenMode.kForWrite)

is write, where I think it only need to be for read.

I am trying to place orthogonal lines (or lateron sections) for a defined halignment + station. In my youthful ignorance I had thought to be able to cast a curve from an element containing the station and then identify somehow the normal to that. Unfortunately I got directly stuck in the beginning.

I would like to override a vertical alignment view in the sense to draw all solids cut vertically between upper and lower boundary of the view. As an example please find a screenshot below as taken from C3D-based project.

One may see several vertical alignments and their solid derivatives mixed with label objects and polylines/mtext/blocks.

What I have in mind is to imitate similar appearance in PyRx in order to ease the dependance on C3D and/or add-ons. Hints much appreciated.
