the following code:

generates this result:

My workaround also fails

acv = Db.AcValue(mt.text())
txt = acv.format(Db.kIgnoreMtextFormat)

you can use getFragments if you want to try to parse it yourself

        ml = Db.MLeader(id)
        mt = ml.mtext()
        txt = ""
        for frag in mt.getFragments():
           txt += frag[Db.MTextFragmentType.kTextValue]
