One of the code types in the list of allowed code types is "ICD". ICD is a family of code types. Unfortunately, there can be some overlap between codes with the different code types in this family. This especially occurs when the PCS codes are not fully specified, and only using the first few characters -- likely to represent a category. So when we see some of the codes identified with an ICD code type, we can't tell what type of code it really is.
Can the code types be extended to include ICD-10-PCS and ICD-10-CM?
The ICD-9 code types were obsoleted 10+ years ago, so, you would hope that no one is really still using them, however, we see them in existing MRFs.
Also, can the documentation encourage hospitals to move to encoding their data with the specific ICD code type and not use the generic ICD code type? We see around 340 MRFs with the ICD code type.
