Description
I've been using this for a while now and it's worked great for PS4 and PS5 controllers:
/etc/udev/rules.d/72-ps-touchpad-fix.rules
# Disable PlayStation touchpad acting as mouse
# USB
ATTRS{name}=="Sony Interactive Entertainment Wireless Controller Touchpad", ENV{LIBINPUT_IGNORE_DEVICE}="1"
ATTRS{name}=="Sony Interactive Entertainment DualSense Wireless Controller Touchpad", ENV{LIBINPUT_IGNORE_DEVICE}="1"
# Bluetooth
ATTRS{name}=="Wireless Controller Touchpad", ENV{LIBINPUT_IGNORE_DEVICE}="1"
ATTRS{name}=="DualSense Wireless Controller Touchpad", ENV{LIBINPUT_IGNORE_DEVICE}="1"
In my experience, this has been required for games which use the touchpad natively. Without this, the touchpad is instead interpreted as a mouse and otherwise ignored.
