Let's Think About Entity Transfers

If entities are just addresses mapped to structs, why then should the profess.eth project need to bother with any entity transfer mechanism? In fact, we do expect large organizations requiring frequent transfers or fine-grained permissions to spin up their own contracts to act as entity controllers. The addition of a very basic transfer mechanism is thought to act more as a universal safety net - think... entities that may not have the capacity to write special purpose smart contracts. We're trying to build in a very basic "something about organizational control has changed" or "a key has been compromised and we need a quick fix" mechanism available to everyone - not just those who were completely prepared for any contingencies.

An alternative option could be to spin up a custom smart contract exclusively for entity control that has more delegation and transfer control built in. This hasn't been ruled out.

The clearest "pro" I can think of regarding things the way they are is also a top "con":

Currently, transferring an entity means transferring control of an address. In many cases, this means that there will be a clear on-chain record of something changing about the entity. It gets a new address and the trust the old address gained does not just silently follow to the new address. No more hedge funds buying up brands for their trust, eh?

But, of course, any large entity that plans ahead can spin up a custom smart contract to transfer entity control "silently". The "little guys" are at an apparent disadvantage.

Spinning up a smart contract per entity with transfer, pausing, permissions etc will be more expensive for users when they're establishing a new entity, but it will ensure everyone in the profess.eth ecosystem has similar capabilities from the get-go.

We could record transfer activities and store them as part of the entity for any transfers that happen using the provided entity smart-contract. This would leave us in a similar situation as we are now, but more users would have more options.
