Fix search so it works for names with special characters like hyphens

If you search for a name with a hyphen, like "Lai-Tze Fan", no records show up. A work around is to add an "Alternate spelling" of the name WITHOUT the hyphen in the Person record as in the screenshot below. With this alternate spelling if you search for Lai-Tze Fan with the hyphen it shows up.

Is there a way to fix this without adding alternate spellings for all names with hyphens or other special characters?
