3. User Interface Document
UI Document: Should include all menus (flow diagram) and hud, from technical and art point of view. All the sprites cut down and ready to be used. All screens layout drawn.
- Start Screen
- Main Menu
- Brawler's Gallery
- Brawler Selection Screen
- Ingame UI
- Pause Menu
- Scoreboard Screen
For the starting screen we will use a Final Fantasy image as the background. This screen is the first one that the player will find when entering our game, so we want it to be visual attactive and pleasant. For that we will also add some cosy music in the background for the player to feel in tune right from the start. Some "press start to continue" letters will appear in the lower part of the screen and we will also add our studio logo.
The Main Menu will have 5 buttons:
1. Play: This button will lead the player to the next screen before the game, the character selection screen
2. The Brawler’s Gallery: Will open a new screen where the player will see all of the characters available to play and some information about them.
3. Options: The options button will be situated in a corner and will be represented by some gear icon .It will open an extra menu where the player will be able to adjust parameters like sound, fullscreen, vsync or the controls keybinds
4. Credits: The credits menu will be represented by our studio logo. This button will lead the player to a new screen where he’ll find information about the team
5. Exit: Simply closes the software, it will demand an extra action from the user to confirm that he wants to exit the game
The Main Menu screen will consist on the previous buttons, an image of the game as background plus the same cosy music from the start screen. Each button will have some effects that will drag the user’s attention while scrolling on them plus some fx’s
This menu will inform the players about all brawlers available and their abilities. It will consist of a gallery with the available characters to play the game. When clicking one of the brawler images another screen will opne, to give the player some insight about the brawler(abilities, lore and ingame model)
This screen will open up after the player selects the button play in the main menu. The low part of the screen will be for the 4 players, each will have a space where they will see what they are selecting, and will go in order of selection from left to right. Players will have 10 sec each to select, this will be visualized by a time bar running above their portrait, if they waste the 10 seconds and still haven't selected a brawler, the last one they were selecting(scroling) will be the one they'll end up using. The next player/players to choose will have a question mark(“?”) symbol on the portrait that will have an intermitent fx while the other players are selecting. There will also be a back arrow button to go back to the main menu. Here we will use some music that inspires combat and conflict.
*show individual screen example *show 4 screen divided example Will need art of map and characters, if not use placeholders Attack matricers(round for area), range of player autos
The pause menu will be very simple, it will consist of 2 buttons, one to adjust the options for the players, and a second one to return to the game. It’s this way because the game will be very fast paced and with this 2 buttons we think we are satisfying our players needs. The options menu will be the same as the one in the main menu.
This will be the last screen that the players will see before exiting the match. It will display the results of the game and which player has won. The scoreboard screen will be different for the players, being blue or the winner and red for the losers. It will show the classification of the player’s score during the match.
