I found that you can disable the effect of gravity on your player by holding Aux1(sprint)+Jump.
This does not work against the attracted effect, as that replaces your physics.
This also work in conjunction with the Angel's Wing and Jetpack, allowing ridiculous levels of acceleration.

I'm split on this issue, on one hand it's a useful QOL feature to spice up early game a little, on the other hand it kind of defeats the purpose of building early automation. Why not keep it and let players who don't want to use it not use it?

My two cents: as it currently exists, it mostly obsoletes the jetpack (but you can't go from descending to ascending without a node to stand on first, so it doesn't entirely obsolete it). I was actually surprised to find that stamina had no bearing on the ability to glide, and I'd suggest that, if possible, it be reworked such that maintaining non-downwards momentum consumes stamina, and that, if stamina is depleted, it begin to act more like a proper "glide", capping the downwards velocity of the player using it, rather than freezing the current velocity. I believe this would greatly balance the mechanic, and make the jetpack something worth working towards beyond just for the ability to restart an ascent while falling

And also luanti the engine sucks with different direction gravity
