Unable to connect to wallet for more than a day now

Dear farmers,

I've been unable to connect to my wallet even since before I updated to 1.16 yesterday. My attempt to solve this by updating did not help. Deleting the files in the DB directory and restarting the W10-PC did not help. I opened port 8444 on my router and even tried disabling Windows firewall. So far, I continued to plot using SWAR plot manager but yet have been unable to farm. The Chia Blockchain app keeps hanging on the 'connecting to wallet' screen.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I added my error log below.

Don't USE THE GUI, reboot your system and start from scratch, once you run 'npm run electron' you fire dozens of shitty processes that conflict.

It's not you since chia 1.3, the entire code base has become a pile of shit, even when you get your blockchain&wallet sync'd you still can't do anything as the blockchain is broken the wallet software is crap

cmd-line the GUI doesn't work

run . ./activate then 'chia init', make sure your using the right folder

then run 'chia start node -r'

then 'chia show -s', and make sure your sync'd, if your not sync'd, its impossible to sync the wallet

once your sync'd above

'chia start wallet -r'

to check wallet,
chia wallet show,

it will tell you when the wallet is sync'd
...

Problems above it can take 2-3 days to sync a new blockchain, it can take 1-2 days to sync a wallet, be patient and monitor the tools
I was running months ago just fine, long before all this port-8444 shit came out, either they did something to the code, or this is a ploy by hackers to get people to open up the system

remember any task or tool can issue 'chia keys show --mnemonic-show' and get all your keys and then sweep your account and steal your funds, this is just too easy, I would not open ports, I would not mess with the router, I run blockchain on dozens of coins, and nobody makes you do this, this is 100% bullshit

lastly, for get the logs, you will go crazy, just learn to use the tools

its either sync'd or not the bs about IP's not connecting is a waste of time

I have enabled&disabled port-8447 on my router to my test farmer, either way doesn't make any difference. Just another way for a criminal to get in,

The GUI is horrible indeed and does not provide any update to what it's doing..

I tried what you suggested using Windows PowerShell (ran as admin) but got some errors but maybe it's working:

1. I entered the commands in this directory: "C:\Users(...)\AppData\Local\chia-blockchain\app-1.1.6\resources\app.asar.unpacked\daemon"

2. ".\activate" did not work and ".\chia init" gave some warnings like: "WARNING: using a farmer address which we don't have the private keys for. We searched the first 500 addresses. Consider overriding (...)" and "C:\Users(...).chia\mainnet already exists, no migration action taken"

3. Next ".\chia start node -r" told me it started my daemon process and then something..

4. After I entered ".\chia show -s" which tells me it is syncing to block 199584 of 338783 which will take quite some time indeed. It's slowly progressing I saw. At least it's doing something :)

I hope I am doing things according to what you described and indeed, I disabled all my router NAT rules and reinitiated my firewall to block the internet (almost ;-) ).

KeyError: (key)' makes me think it looks like its missing your keys. following the upgrade you may need to reload the mnemonic

A solution that worked for me after trying sooo many things:

1. In this folder "C:\Users(...).chia\mainnet\wallet\db" delete ALL files starting with blockchain_wallet...
2. Safe them somewhere if you like. After deleting these, I manually closed all programs (you could do a restart if you like) and
3. then I started the GUI..
   This worked for me, I hope it solves your problems as well. Good luck
