Villagers allow trading for less than what the asking price is when doing trades with motes.
Reproducing
Set up a mote nexus and have a mote with only a single item in the stack of a type a villager wishes to buy.
Use the "Trade" spell from Hexal to initiate a trade using a list containing the aforementioned mote. Ensure the villager actually wants more than 1 of the item, but the mote only contains 1. It does not matter if the slot is targeted manually or automatically determined.
The trade will go through, providing the villager with experience and leaving a mote on the stack that's the result of the trade.
Expected Behavior
Villagers reject trades which offer fewer items than demanded, perhaps returning null.
