Crash on Windows when viewing a video #343

Describe the bug
When viewing videos within the presentation, pympress may unexpectedly crash.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open the PDF : example_media.pdf (it is simply a barebones example, others files can also trigger the crash)
  2. Click fast on the video controls until it crashes. I am able to replicate the crash systematically within 1~3 seconds.

Environment (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Python version: 3.11.7
  • Pympress version: 1.8.5
  • Installation method: binary installer

Debug information (see below for file locations)

  • What is reported in pympress.log?
    Everytime the crash occured the following was printed to the log:
[000001af94c98cf0] direct3d11 vout display error: SetThumbNailClip failed: 0x800706f4
  • Does the problem still happen if you remove your config file? Yes
