Description
Description
The Changemaker Portfolio is designed to showcase the social impact efforts and skills of young individuals. However, feedback from users and employers indicates confusion about the meaning and representation of skills and action badges. Users are uncertain about the significance of these badges, the progression or levels achievable, and how specific actions relate to overall achievements. This lack of clarity hinders the platform's goal of facilitating opportunities for young people based on their documented skills and actions.
Key design-research questions
- Clarity and Definition of Badges: How can we enhance the understanding of what each badge represents and the levels within it?
- Badge Progression: What is the best way to visualize the progression and maximum levels attainable in each badge?
- Action-Specific Representation: How can we effectively show the actions activated for each specific badge in addition to overall actions?
- User and Employer Engagement: How do we ensure the representations meet the needs and expectations of both user groups?
Current State
Currently, users and employers struggle with interpreting the badges and skills displayed in the Changemaker Portfolio. There is a gap in:
- Understanding the significance of each badge and skill.
- Recognizing the progression or levels within badges.
Seeing the link between specific actions and overall achievements.
- The user experience is marred by these uncertainties, which can diminish the perceived value of the portfolio in professional and social impact contexts.
