Garmin integration?

Hi,
An integration to retrieve data from Garmin would be great! There's this project that can be used - https://github.com/cyberjunky/python-garminconnect

This should be able to retrieve FIT files which can be parsed for all data monitored such as workouts but also sleep and other stuff!

We already have integration with Apple for few metrics. And if we build one for Android, does that work for Garmin users as well? I'm assuming you might be sync with your iOS or Android health anyway isn't? So do we need third integration with Garmin as well?

AFAIK, Garmin doesn't sync to Apple Health or Android Health. It's its own silo. I'm on a degoogled android, so I don't use Android Health either.

You can also take a look at another self-hosted project called Endurain, which does implement Garmin integration.

Basic Android app is released yesterday.
Someone pointed me below articles.. with this, you should be able to integrate with Garmin Health data indirectly using either Google health connect or Apple health.

Have a look and let me know if it suits your need. This will avoid Maitenance of dedicated Garmin integration and redirect my effort on other enhancement..

Hi, I'm on a degoogled android, so I don't use Google Health, thus this solution doesn't work for me.

What phone are you using? Health connect is local to your phone.

I'm using GrapheneOS on a Google Pixel.

I don't have any Garmin device. So, I am not sure how I can test the integration even if I start with https://github.com/cyberjunky/python-garminconnect

I made some progress, but I’m stuck on the following points:

• OAuth: It seems Garmin requires registration in their Developer Portal for OAuth. While registration is free, it still needs approval, and I’m not sure if everyone gets approved for self-hosting. It might be intended mainly for commercial applications.
• Email/Password option: This approach would require sharing credentials with SparkyFitness, which introduces a security risk.
• Testing limitation: I don’t own any Garmin devices, so I can’t fully test even if I complete the development. I plan to try the iPhone app to see if it can pull in my activities for testing. If that doesn’t work, I’ll need someone to either share credentials or provide another way for me to test.

Until I get some guidance on these blockers, I won’t be able to make further progress on this enhancement.

@Gandalf-the-Blue Thanks for your patience. Finally Garmin integration is working fine. I will be adding many features such as dedicated charts, adjustments to adapt health metrics based on Garmin data, scheduled sync etc. But now basic feature has been released.
