Concepts to add (or add as synonym if already there) #2

Hi Russ @poldrack ,
I have met with our clinical team on a number of Task/Assessment items that appear to be measuring concepts that are not present in the CA. Below is a list of 7 concepts we propose adding to the CA if their synonyms do not already exist (I did not find any synonyms, but please let me know if I missed something). If there are synonymous concepts already present, please add the term as a synonym.

  1. Elation:
    CCDAIM_08 I get overly enthusiastic.
CCDAIM_07 My happy moods are so strong that I feel that I'm in heaven"."
CCDAIM_02 When I feel happy it is a strong type of exhuberance.
CCDAIM_14 When something good happens, I am usually much more jubilant than others.
CCDAIM_40 When I am happy the feeling is more like contentment and inner calm than one of exhilaration and excitement.
CCDAIM_29 When I know I have done something very well, I feel relaxed and content rather than excited and elated.
CA concept: Elation does not yet exist. Our clinical team indicated that these items are not measuring ‘happiness’ (which is in the CA), but rather ‘elation’ which is a distinct psychiatric symptom. Is there already a term in the atlas for ‘elation’ that I may have missed?
    Elation: great happiness and exhilaration.
synonyms:euphoria, ecstasy, delight,, glee, jubilation, exultation, bliss, rapture
If not, could it be added?

  2. Extroversion:
    Example:
ATQ_67 I usually like to spend my free time with people.
CCDAIM_03 I enjoy being with other people very much.
CDIN_11 Question 11 0=I like being with people.|1=I do not like being with people many times.|2=I do not want to be with people at all.
CA concept: Currently, the only term in CA that seems to even loosely address this concept is Antisocial personality. However, this is too specific of a concept. Could ‘extroversion’ be included in the CA?

  3. Avoidance:
Example: ATQ_72 When I am afraid of how a situation might turn out, I usually avoid dealing with it. 1=extremely untrue|2=quite untrue|3=slightly untrue|4=neither true nor false|5=slightly true|6=quite true|7=extremely true
CA concept: The example is clearly measuring ‘avoidance’, which is a specific symptom/concept where one’s response to a negative/unpleasant feeling is to avoid it. I did not see a concept in the CA that fits this definition. Is there one? If not, could ‘Avoidance’ be added?

  4. Pessimism:
    Example:
CDIN_02 Question 2 2=Nothing will ever work out for me.|1=I am not sure if things will work out for me.|0=Things will work out for me O.K.
GDSC_05 Are you hopeful about the future?
CA concept: I did not see a CA concept for ‘Pessimism’. Did I miss it? If it is not there, could we add ‘Pessimism’?

  5. Self-confidence
    Example:
    DSEQ_11 I feel self-confident
CA concept: Our clinical team agreed that ‘confidence’ is, at this point its own concept. I did not see it in the atlas. Is there a concept that you consider a synonym of ‘self-confidence’ or ‘lack of self-confidence’ in the atlas? If note can ‘self-confidence’ be added?

  6. Self-esteem:
    Example:
    CDIN_06 Question 6 2=I hate myself.|1=I do not like myself.|0=I like myself.
CA concept: I don’t readily see the concept that would cover self-image/self-esteem. The RDoC Construct this would map into is Self Knowledge.

  7. Visual/light sensitivity
Example: ATQ_54 Colorful flashing lights bother me.
CA concept: There is currently no concept I can find for this.
