I just finished my adventure of going down that road: you can read what I did in #12761 |

I had it 'installed' in 2025, but it was fairly broken. I cleaned it out, upgraded my GPU to Radeon 7900 XTX , updated ROCM to 7.2 and want to try installing comfy again. Reading over the instructions, it suggested ~/comfy as a possible target folder. I went ahead and created that. Installed the venv into it. then ran comfy install....and I get smears of red print saying ~/comfy is not a valid ComfyUI path. So, reading from the top of the document, it suggested one folder. And as soon as I went to run the cli install command, it error-ed out BECAUSE of that folder. So, this sort of thing explains WHY my previous version on Linux was broken. And I am not willing to go ahead and create another broken install.
Is there an acutual set of linux install instructions, with ROCm etc that is 'official' and doesn't contain discrepancies like 'hey, use ~/comfy and warn: The recent workspace /home/brianx/comfy/ComfyUI is not a valid ComfyUI
path. I really want to use this software, but the Linux installation seems well and truly broken. (conflicting commands/suggestions within 2 paragraphs of each other).
I get that it is Linux, but come on - there has to be a better way.
If you have any thoughts about where I should put this, so that the 'Not a valid path' message does not show, I will use it. For now, I am not moving forward ... I am on Linux Mint 22
ADVthanksANCE for any and all suggestions on how to get this program correctly installed!!
Cheers.
