I've been working on a panel which is able to serve the role of both the EqualPanel and the WrapPanel, as well as additional use cases which would currently require a custom approach.

There's two principles fundamental to this control:

Wrapping

When this panel runs out of space in the current row/column, it wraps (though this feature may be disabled with a property).

Proportional Sizing

This panel uses an attached property with type GridLength to describe the sizing of its children. This allows for the sizing to be auto (based on the child's desired size), fixed, or star-based. Star-based sizing guarantees items in the same row to be a set size proportional to one another.

Thanks @Avid29 for starting a discussion (could be good to drop the link to the Discord discussion in your post, as well as some images). I could see this as just WrapPanel2 potentially (and later just bolted into the existing WrapPanel assuming the default behavior is the same).

Some initial questions/clarifications on behavior:

1. I assume the attached property default is Auto so behavior out-of-the-box is like WrapPanel?
2. Is there a StretchChildren type property ala WrapPanel defaulting to None to get that behavior as well? And then there'd be other modes like Equal or Proportional? Or is this now left to the implementor to modify the attached property of the children?
3. With * sizing what determines when something should wrap? Is Min/Max Width/Height accounted for in those scenarios?

1. Yup! Default is Auto and therefore the default behavior is exactly like the WrapPanel.
2. Yes. Currently it's called the ForcedStretchMode, and the default behavior is None. It also has Last to match the WrapPanel's StretchChildren="Last", though I believe it has slightly different behavior since it will stretch the last child of every row, and not just the last, though I may be mistaken on the WrapPanel's behavior here. It also has First, Equal, and Proportional. I've documented these in the readme for the component PR I've drafted, would refer to that for specifics.
3. Star-based sizing has two rules - 1. Every star-sized item must be fully visible. 2. Ever star-sized item in a row must retain their proportional sizing relative to each other. If adding a new item to the current row would violate one of these rules, a new row is created.
