Popup malformed (underlying page is black)

I upgraded CommunityToolkit.Maui in my app from v9.1.1 to v12.1.0. My popups, which were previously working great, are now a bit of a mess. I had to do a few small things for the upgrade, such as deriving from Popup<Int32> instead of Popup. But the big issues are that (i) the appearance of the popup has changed in some small ways, and (ii) the underlying page is not visible beneath the popup. Instead of appearing beneath a dark tint, the underlying page is blacked out (see screenshot). This happens on both Android emulators and Android devices.

As well as the blackout issue, the popup has become wider (in v9.1.1 it has a nice horizontal padding) and it seems to have an ugly solid black drop shadow that overflows on the RHS (see screenshot).

Here is my popup's initial xaml. I haven't changed it much, and under v.9.1.1 it worked just the way I wanted.

I have tried various ways of calling ShowPopupAsync - e.g. Page.ShowPopupAsync in my Page, or via IPopupService in my VM. I get the same blackout result every time. Adding options like Shape and Shadow makes no difference to the result.

I downloaded the Toolkit source and ran the samples in Visual Studio, and they work just fine (I can see the underlying page under the popups). Clearly the sample app is doing something different from me, but I can't figure out what it is.

Remove BoxView styles. It should be fixed in 12.2.0

To give some extra context to this: the new version of Popups use a BoxView behind to handle the tapping outside of the bounds to close the Popup. Some older MAUI apps have a default style for BoxView that applies a black background. You can fix this in your Styles.xaml file or upgrade to 12.2.0 which removed the need for the BoxView.
