Problem understanding configs

I am having difficulty understanding what each config option does:

1. Are "Maximum Noise Threshold" and "Minimum Noise Threshold" random numbers that determine shape of a river?
2. What does "How spread out rivers generate" do? Does it determine how wide a river is? Or does it determine the distance between each river?
3. Does "VanillaRivers" replace upstream rivers? Or does is add vanilla rivers to upstream rivers?
4. Is the "upstream-rivers.json" a config that defines which rivers (by biome) can be replaced by upstream rivers?

I would also appreciate a little more of explanation on the configs, I don't know the math behind your river gen so I'm having to just trial and error it.
