no menu preview (but editor preview!) of .pes files on the Brother NV800E

hello! small issue + one I'm also happy to help resolve if you can point me in the right direction.

When I load files into my machine via USB, they do not render at all in the 'selection menu', though they appear fine once the file is actually loaded into the editing menu. All the other files in the picture (other than the one in the bottom left) have been produced using Brother's PE Design 6. It can also 'see' other information about the file fine: when it's selected, it has no trouble telling me which hoops will be suitable, or what the pattern size is. If I load the non-previewing file into PE Design 6, and then save it, it previews fine.

My thought is that it might be something to do with proprietary file formatting as it's Brother software -> Brother machine. The only other difference in how I'm making the files is that I'm producing PEMBroider files on my mac (10.13.3 High Sierra), and the PE Design 6 files on a Windows 10 VM.
