Switch to using semantic versioning for package releases

Can this project start using semantic versioning for releases, instead of incrementing what is traditionally the "patch" field in the version number? The vast majority of PHP packages follow semantic versioning, so users will expect it. As well, I think it's safe to say this library meets the definition of a stable release.
