Feature request: parameter based masking

Hi there,
I've been loving RapidRAW for the last months and getting some really nice results - please keep up the great work.

One thing that I feel the app is missing is parameter based masking. Sometimes I find that the sky/foregound/subject masking isn't quite capturing what I need. The way I would do this in other software is with a parameter based mask.

Would be awesome if this could be incorporated into RapidRAW.

What kind of parameter based masking do you have in mind? I don't really understand how you expect this to work.

Hey Timon,

The idea would be that you can select certain regions of the image based on some quality of the pixel data. Specifically, I'm envisioning being able to select regions of an image based on the pixel brightness or luminescence. I've also seen parametric filters based around the redness, greenness, and blueness of a pixel, for example.

In my brightness example, if the user could set a minimum brightness, a maximum brightness, and also tailor the curve that controls how strict the cut-off between being above/below the thresholds then you should be able to fairly precisely select regions of the image.

Example 1.
I want to select all regions in the darkest 0 - 20th percentiles of the image, with a "feather" of the regions in the 20th to 25th percentile. This would be useful for selecting dark/underexposed regions before boosting the exposure, for example.

Example 2.
I want to select the "mid" regions of the image, such as those in the 40th - 60th percentile, and also feather the regions in the 35th - 40th, and 60th - 65th percentiles to soften the borders around the selection.

Hope my explanations makes sense - I'm not totally sure of the lingo of what type of data is stored within each pixel of data.
