I looked into it and @dromer added support for it for his own plugins recently too. The main issue is 2 fold:

Alternative question back... why doesn't brew build the software itself? I understand if it was closed source it could only fetch release binaries, but there is no need to limit for that when a project is open-source. Building cardinal is a simple matter of cloning recursively and just running "make". Hello !
I recently updated my version of Cardinal through
brewand I got a message saying the formula is getting deprecated on 2026-09-01 because it is not signed and thus not passing a gatekeeper test that has been recently enforced on their end.I guess the binary should be signed in some way but I have no experience in this regard so I cannot help by opening a PR for now.
Is signing the macOS binary something that should be looked into ?
