Make 'metadata contact email' a required field #207
Description
As a member of the ScienceBase data release (SBDR) team and a data manager, I often see metadata records that do not have a metadata contact email address included. This field is required for inclusion of the metadata into the Science Data Catalog and downstream catalogs like data.gov.
While we do have checks in our SBDR scripts to flag the absence of a metadata contact email, and SDC will not harvest records that do not have this required field, it would be useful to have this field flagged earlier in the process as a required field in the Metadata Wizard.
If this isn't possible (I know required fields are typically reserved for fields required by the FGDC-CSGDM standard), maybe a tooltip or something similar to notify users that some downstream systems require that field?
This is very much a "nice to have" request - I just wanted to document it in case it's easy to implement in a future update.
