Redundant/confusing variables moisture

Within the SubGroup SM_GROWTH, there are three hard to distinguish variables for moisture content:
grain_moisture_harvest
harvest_moisture
harvest_moisture_maturity

The two variables harvest_moisture and harvest_moisture_maturity are meant to be broader terms suitable for non-grain crops such as root and tuber crops and forages. (Note that harvest_moisture is defined as being measured at physiological maturity, not harvest date).
The variable grain_moisture_harvest is meant for use with crops where the harvested portion is seed or grain.
In general, we would recommend using the more specific term when available. Due to the somewhat idiosyncratic way that the dictionary was populated, one can find similar problematic terms for unit (i.e. single) grain weight and other terms. We often use unit_dry_wt_harv_matur or HWUM, but for grain crops, we also have grain_unit_dry_wt_matur or GWGM.
The general suggestion would be to use the more specific variable when available.
