HTTP 500 error when sorting by Descending on browse

DSpace9: browse by author or subject and sort options as "descending" gives "Error fetching items".
On each level.
The same is in Dspace7.6.3, also Dspace 8.1, but here only on "All of Dspace" level, on collections level is all working normally.

Thanks, @heikiepner. I have reproduced this on main (sandbox.dspace.org), dspace-8_x (demo.dspace.org), and dspace-7_x on my production instance. Attempting to sort any browse other than date results in an HTTP 500 error with "Error fetching items" show on the UI.
