Ability to control the type items to be displayed in the Recent submissions section of DSpace homepage

We are using configurable entities, especially Publication and Person entities. It often occurs that we add more Person items than Publications item. In that case, Recent submissions section of DSpace homepage will only display names.

The ecent submissions section displays any new items no matter what their type is (Publication, Person, Orgnization, etc.) and it is only possible to configure the number of items to display and the date metadata to use to sort the item:

Describe the solution you'd like

A way to improve this feature would be to add the ability to configure what type of item can be displayed (i.e only Publication type item, etc.).
