The problem you're addressing (if any)
There is no visible notification when there's a board mismatch for the EC firmware. This might cause the EC sync to fail silently and allow for using a wrong EC version #1792
Describe the solution you'd like
Either a popup that informs about an EC sync failure, or a warning in the SOL string, or in the setup menu. It should make it hard to miss the fact that the currently running EC firmware is not of the same release number as the BIOS firmware
Where is the value to a user, and who might that user be?
Prevent inconsistencies with EC firmware versioning, risk of brick in case of incompatibility and testing on a wrong EC version
