Right Click Popups Invisible or Under Main Window

I had to reinstall Linux due to Kubuntu 25.10's update failing. I switched to cachyos. I know DeaDBeeF used to have right click menus, I used them a lot... and now I cannot.

To reproduce:

1. Open a Playlist (or even a single file)
2. Right click on any file

What should happen is there is a popup window with things like queuing up the file (Play Next), viewing metadata, etc.

What is instead happening is absolutely nothing, except the next mouse click is soaked up, like the program would be expected to do to then close a popup window.

OS: cachyos (all up to date) (Using KDE Plasma 6 in Wayland)
DeaDBeeF: v1.10.0

I have tried with GTK2 and GTK3, yes with a restart each time. Both are exhibiting this behavior.

I have tried right clicking on the far right edge to see if it is popping up under the main window, but it is just not visible.

All other dialogs seem to be working as expected (Help, About, Add file(s), Save Play List, Search, etc.)

I ran deadbeef through the terminal, and right clicking has these errors show up:

I can't install cachyos, so would not be able to reproduce, but I'm curious -- can you see any menus at all in deadbeef?
There should be other menus than just playlist context menu -- playlist tab menu, playlist header menu, volume bar menu.
Either way, it doesn't sound like deadbeef bug.. more like a combination of factors that broke your system. Maybe you should consider using something else?

All of those other menus work just fine. Design mode also works just fine. It is just the context menus on the files in the play list in DeaDBeeF that do not work across my ENTIRE system. My OS is definitely not broken in any way. It feels a bit absurd to install a different OS because one program's right click menus are not working.

Ok makes sense, then it looks like some issue in deadbeef. I don't know whether I'd be able to reproduce, but I'll check the code - maybe it does something weird

At first glance, there's no visible difference in how all these menus are displayed.
All / most of them are presented using this line of code:

    gtk_menu_popup_at_pointer (GTK_MENU (menu), NULL);

Also I should mention, that this code may translate into this:

gtk_menu_popup(menu, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, 3, gtk_get_current_event_time())

Nevertheless -- it's all the same code for all menus.

I noticed you had an Arch-specific installer, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it from that. It has the exact same problem.

But it loaded way up near the top of my 4K screen, and when I tried right clicking, the popup actually appeared... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY down at the bottom of the screen. Here's a screen shot (you can see what I right clicked highlighted in the play list):

It's especially weird to me that this happens only with this specific menu, but not the others.
I think it has something to do with linking against older GTK3 API, which may have wayland compatibility problem.
This is just a guess, but you could try installing from source (e.g. using aur should be enough) -- this build should not have that aforementioned compatibility issue, and at least would provide more information.

Ok, give me a little while. I'll experiment with building it from source later. cachyos is a bit weird about using AUR directly, and I might as well try it out from scratch in case there's any useful info when doing so. Thanksgiving is messing up my week right now, though, so give me a few days.

Thank you for being responsive to this issue! Other than this one problem, I love DeaDBeeF and use it like crazy.

I'm not having this issue in plasma6/wayland. But also I'm running a custom deadbeef build. Can't test same build as you since I have only arm64 cpu.

I finally had time to work on this. The build instructions were for Ubuntu, which I'm actually more familiar with, so I had to translate a bit of the dependencies for arch, which are (for anybody repeating this):
build-essential -> base-devel
autopoint -> core/gettext
libjansson-dev -> jansson
libblocksruntime-dev and libdispatch-dev -> libdispatch

After cloning, compiling, and then installing from the source, all menus now work properly. Kinda wish I knew what the difference was, but it just works properly now so I guess I'll install future updates from source.

Thanks for confirming. I will fix it in some future build (unfortunately, not a trivial fix)
