Cannot export finding groups - Errors in uwsgi logs #11911

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions, we are unable to export finding groups to excel, csv or to a report. When we try there are thousands of errors spammed into the uwsgi container log. Here is an example of trying to export to Excel. ERROR [dojo.reports.views:1009] Error in attribute: Cannot convert <Finding_Group: Findings in: ejs> to Excel I have tried importing the exact same findings, creating a finding group and exporting on a dev environment and it always works, I can't figure out what is wrong with the prod env. Any suggestions, thanks for anyone who takes the time to look into it. |

Could you show us the steps you take and/or share a report that could be used to reproduce this? I assume just viewing the finding group and the list of findings in them and then select "Excel Export" from the Download button? I just did some tests with a finding group a created via bulk edit in a Test. The Excel export seems to work for me without problems. Could you also provide the version of Defect Dojo you're at? That would allow we to check the line number to get a clue of the error. In recent versions I don't see any obvious problems in line 1009 and the lines around that. Can you include the full traceback of the error (if present in the logs, could be that they are only logged at DEBUG level). |

Thank you for the reply. I am not able to share the report but yes, your assumption is right. I am just viewing the findings in the findings group, im selecting them all (i dont know if you need to select them all or not) and click Excel Export. This finding group has 26 findings and as stated originally, it does work in a dev environment (exact same server specs as prod) i was thinking it could be something with the data, but it would fail in the other environment too if that was the case. This is defect dojo version 2.40.1 There really isnt anything else to post in the logs, it spams the errors for about 15 minutes and then finally stops, for about the first minute, the Defect Dojo UI sits there with the reloading/spinning icon on the tab and eventually hits a 504 gateway timeout error. This is from uwsgi container, should I be looking at other logs in other containers which might provide better info? thanks again, i realize you don't have much to work with here but i don't know what else to check. Sorry for the late reply. It looks like some error occurs on a field while generating the Excel export. But it should eventually complete as it's really just a warning and the export continues. Is that correct? I've created #12435 to add a little bit of extra logging. I think we need to exclude one or more extra fields from the excel export, the extra logging will tell us more. It might be |

@rossegit Actually I found the error and the PR fixes it. Still wondering if your export completes as normal with your instance as exporting 26 findings should be done in at most a couple of seconds. |
