Post Determinate Nix Install, `nix-store --gc` removes all of Home Manager

Describe the bug

Perhaps I'm missing something in how to handle the installation of Determinate Nix in conjunction with Home Manager. Each time I run nix-store --gc all packages, including Home Manager itself are deleted and it forces me to reinstall all of home-manager again which is quite frustrating. My configuration is rather simple and is flake-based and can share the configuration if that would help.
