Topic/Subject

This is related to the Tools Catalog project. We'd like to have a blog post that explains how to gather metrics from Slack, Discord, etc. as a measure of community size and growth.

https://github.com/DevRel-Foundation/tools-catalog/blob/main/docs/index/by-label/community.md#community

This should be a very pragmatic how-to / tutorial where the reader is a DevRel or DevRel-adjacent person who wants to understand trends and health of their community as it relates to communication platform tools.

  • what metrics to use from the platform
  • how to get it
  • how to track it over time
  • how to present it to stakeholders
  • examples of good benchmarks could be interesting

So for example, if it was Slack, this how-to would talk about the analytics that slack provides, how to pull that data out, and give examples of a few communities where the data can be shared. Same for Discord would be ideal.
