fastapi has an integration for this - a rewrite might not be needed - and just adding graphql logic as another way to access the data while keeping all the other backend logic as-is.

of the four libraries fastapi mentions are possible to use with this (https://fastapi.tiangolo.com/how-to/graphql/#graphql-with-strawberry) strawberry looks the best in terms of documentation and Gtihub stars https://github.com/strawberry-graphql/strawberry

While we are thinking, the first choose would be redis or valkey, which was the same thing until redis changed the licencing.
