Retrieving groups recursively from ldapRecord\Models\Model

I have a model defined in app\Ldap\User.php

namespace App\Ldap;

use LdapRecord\Models\Model;

class User extends Model
{
    protected $connection = 'bravo';
    /**
     * The object classes of the LDAP model.
     *
     * @var array
     */
    public static $objectClasses = [];
}

how do i go about recursively retrieving all the groups of a user?

$connection = LdapRecord\Container::getConnection('bravo');
$user = $connection->query()->where('cn', '=', 'username')->get();
$user->groups(); //expecting this to work
$user['memberof'];//returns groups but not recursively also its the full cn of groups 

in old version it was something like this

public function groups()
{
    $userLDAP = Adldap::search()->users()->where('cn', '=', $this->username )->first();
    $groups = $userLDAP->getGroups($fields = ['*'], $recursive = true);
        
    return $groups->pluck('attributes')->pluck('name')->flatten()->unique()->toArray();
}

What LDAP server are you connecting to? ActiveDirectory, OpenLDAP, etc.

LdapRecord comes with built-in models that you can extend from for the most popular directory types.

i am connecting to ActiveDirectory. but when i do a $user->groups() i receive the following error "PHP Error: Call to a member function groups() on array in..."

You must use the built-in ActiveDirectory\User model. Please take a look at the documentation here:
