Repeated crashes on Replicant

Testing Mull 133 installed from F-droid on Replicant 6.0 0004 RC5 using Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100.

Result: Frequent repeated crashes ("Unfortunately, Mull has stopped")

Additionally, the interface (inside tabs) is extremely laggy (yes I did read about the RFP but even disabling it doesn't fix the slowness. No, I have not activated fission). I suspect this may be related to hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, I cannot disable it using this method (and I know no other way):

Mull simply does not allow me to add the custom setting browser.preferences.defaultPerformanceSettings.enabled. I press "+" but the "Create" button is inactive and dysfunctional. The other setting, layers.acceleration.disabled, seems to have no effect - still laggy, still crashing.

Crashes happen most often when switching/opening/closing tabs.

After a crash, quite often Mull won't start unless all app data is wiped (i.e. one must start re-configuring it from scratch). I have been fighting this for 3 days and had to re-configure uBO again and again many many times. Extremely tedious and annoying.

Speaking of which - it seems impossible to restore a saved uBO configuration. It simply doesn't get imported.

Tried 2 previous releases available on F-droid - same results. FWIW - the same with Feenec.

Please, if possible, provide advice for a workaround until this is (hopefully) fixed.

What do you mean by "works"? As mentioned, It is similarly laggy, unstable and crashing. Both browsers are pretty much non-usable due to all this. BTW thanks for the quick reply. Impressive! :)

Your edited comment is quite discouraging. What exactly do you mean? Why is it unlikely to be fixed? Any recommendations for an alternative at least?

I just mean that replicant is 9 major android versions behind and you're on a 12+ year old device with just cpu accelerated graphics, it is unlikely that mozilla will go out of their way to improve compatibility for such a platform.

the only true solution is to get a newer device.

Yes, that's understood. But perhaps there is a workaround. Someone on Replicant mailing lists says they use Mull. Why can't I add custom variables with values to about:config? Also, how can I access/edit Mull's user.js? (I do have root on Replicant)

FWIW, I tried IceRaven - also laggy but kind of not so much (might be subjective). Switching tabs works fine though - no crashes whatsoever. uBlock doesn't seem to work properly (blank page). Tor Browser - it seems that on a mobile connection it is so slow that can't open any page. However, it does NOT crash. Another peculiarity though - about:config doesn't work. It shows only a blank white page. So, the crashes seem to happen only on Mull and Fennec.
