There is no need to limit the size of Trickplay thumbnails - the user himself sets the desired size in the server settings
Basic Example
In the desktop client, I'm seeing very small Trickplay preview thumbnails, even though I've set the width to 480 pixels in the Trickplay generation settings. All other clients maintain this size.
Drawbacks
Even if the user decides that he is comfortable using Trickplay with custom-sized thumbnails in the player, they still turn out to be very small.
