examples request: backlight

hey is there any chance we can get an example for changing backlight please? I have a button hooked up and want to "turn the screen off" when it is pressed, and back on when the button state changes. Thanks!

It is not quit clear what you want to achieve. Because there is already a sleep function that does this. You could put the code for this function as a button in a menu. And then the ESP32 goes toe sleep immediately And wakes up when you touch the screen.

And for that the code is:

esp_sleep_enable_ext0_wakeup(touchInterruptPin, 0);
esp_deep_sleep_start();

Else I might have misunderstood your question...

I don't want to sleep the esp, just turn the screen off and on with a button press, specifically just the screen off is that possible? thanks

Ah ok... yes this is possible, but not without modifying the code yourself.

You could make a user action with sets the brightness to 0:

For example in UserActions.h line 24:

void userAction2(){
  ledcWrite(0, 0);
}

And because it is a user action, you can select User Action 2 under any button you want. But the problem now... how do you get the brightness back up again, if you can't see anything?
