Code font without code background

How to enter code without it having syntax colouring and a background colour. For example, if I am writing a sentence such as:
By default, ENABLE_CEF is 1
then I want the "ENABLE_CEF" and "1" to be in APL385 font but I do not want them to have syntax highlighting and a background colour.

This might need an additional style in the style sheet and amendments to the style guide.

Inline code is not syntax-highlit in the current stylesheet. Just use backticks. Adding css to inline elements is a barrier for no real gain, imho.
