PIO error in Omega test on Chrysalis, Frontier and Aurora

I am seeing:

Assertion failed...
PIO: FATAL ERROR: Aborting... invalid IO type (/gpfs/fs1/home/ac.xylar/e3sm_work/polaris/update-to-0.10.0-alpha.1/e3sm_submodules/Omega/externals/scorpio/src/clib/pio_lists.cpp: 120)

At the very beginning of forward/120km_960s (the omega.log is empty).

Failing run is in:

/lcrc/group/e3sm/ac.xylar/polaris_0.9/chrysalis/test_20251202/omega-pr-0.10.0a1-gnu

It used a test build of the spack dependencies from #411 and the updated Omega submodule from that PR (yesterday's develop).

I think this is the same error as #412. It just seems like different machines and compilers trigger it at different times.

Seeing this on Aurora with onapi-ifx, so it's not just a Gnu problem.
