Why have you changed the license?

See LGPL To Polyform

  • Which license does EPPlus use?

EPPlus 5 uses a dual license model, with Polyform Noncommercial as the community license and a commercial license for commercial businesses. The commercial license can be purchased at epplussoftware.com.

Versions prior to version 5 is licensed LGPL.

  • With the Commercial license, can I distribute EPPlus with software that I sell?

Yes, you can - as long as you don't expose EPPlus functionality to your customers via some kind of programming interface. We will clarify this further here in the near future.

  • Can I use EPPlus for my personal project?

Yes, the polyform NC license permits personal use. See Polyform Noncommercial.

  • Can I use EPPlus for free in my project?

You can use EPPlus for free if you qualify as a noncommercial organization, See Polyform Noncommercial.

  • Does the Commercial license include support?

Yes, anyone who purchase a Commercial license is entitled to support via our website.

  • Can I use EPPlus without a commercial license internally within a commercial company?

No, all usage within an commercial company requires a commercial license.

  • Do I still need the licenses when my project is done and no one is developing the code?

Technically the answer to this question is no. The license is per developer, not end user, so if you get to a situation where no one is maintaining your production code you don't need a license. Our recommendation would be to keep at least one license if a developer needs to do a hotfix.

You can easily adjust the number of licenses via our website.
