Special attention will be on discussing how to tackle the documentation workshop.

I will not be able to attend but if the recipe maintainers who are present can be reminded of checking the recipe testing for the release and review their recipes outputs if needed from the comparison here: ESMValGroup/ESMValTool#4157 (comment)

Topics:

• @bettina-gier mentioned the release check as requested by @jlenh
• @rswamina and @bouweandela talked about the REf launch yesterday, website here: https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/ ; was well received. Talked about deficits (ocean biogeochemistry, non-monthly), possibly advertising community diagnostic packages. Governance structure under ESMO will decide on how to do that.
• Workshop:
  • User Engagement Team works on Tutorial
  • Oct 20th 9am UK time UET meeting, including talking about Workshop and making a list of issues to address at the Workshop
  • How much on "general" topics like updates? Early session about setting up expectations on a list of work
  • Do we make a project board? If we do, close it afterwards
• Should we add a "Good First Issue" label for beginners?
• 'stable' documentation build is broken and still points to v2.7 -> should be fixed when the Documentation is split

Tutorial

• update about moving to software carpentry
• merging PRs for tutorial, clean up
• Can some technical person check through the contributing guidelines and update if necessary? https://github.com/ESMValGroup/ESMValTool_Tutorial/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md - before workshop would be great!

Documentation

• smaller "read through documentations" groups for newer people to provide feedback to others for fixing
• talk about structure/removing outdated parts
• collection of outdated/missing documentation parts collected here: Collection of outdated/missing Documentation parts ESMValTool#4074
• also check the closed as stale issues! -> check what is still relevant -> Action Item for Tina
• action item for @ehogan: Remove the "change wanted" review from Separate ESMValTool and ESMValCore documentation ESMValTool#3914 to get that merged
