As far as I understand it, zarr support can only be used with esmvalcore.preprocessor.load and is not available through the recipe or esmvalcore.dataset.Dataset, where users would expect it. It might be disappointing for our users if we advertise it while it is not really ready for use. Therefore, I'm not sure if should already mention #2785.
