I put 600 pictures, does the software support a limited number of pictures or is it sensitive to the size of the photo folders. Some photos are over 10,000 MB, is this a problem, should I change the image resolution.

The software is sensitive to the size of the photos. The larger the photo, the more memory hotspotter will require.

Note that HotSpotter does have a nasty bug where it occasionally will lose track of an image and you need to manually fix the CSV files before it will open again. This bug does not exist in IBEIS, so I strongly recommend upgrading. I would recommend using a Linux virtual machine if you prefer to work on Windows.

A higher resolution is generally better, but there can be diminishing returns. It can run on 400x400 chips, but I've found good results at 750x750. It also depends on the species of animal being identified. It could be the case that 200x200 works best, but I wouldn't be able to know without doing the experiments, so I can't answer this question with confidence.

A more powerful computer (i.e. more RAM) will allow for larger databases. I don't have exact numbers for any of these.
