It would nice to enable formatting codes in anvils and writable books, similar to the way they can be used on signs. These features would be controlled by permission nodes. Although the section symbol can be copy pasted into books and quills, it's more convenient to use an ampersand. The section symbol cannot be entered into anvils at all, however. The /itemname command does exist for this purpose, but some server owners may not want to give players unlimited access to the command because it would bypass the game mechanic of using anvils to rename items.
If a player already has an item with formatting codes in the name, and uses that item in an anvil, a separate permission node could be used to control whether or not the plugin preserves those formatting codes if the player does not actually modify the name in the anvil.
With the addition of this feature, there is potential to spoof certain items that would interfere with other plugins such as crate keys or items that trigger menus. Maybe a blacklist option in the config would work?
