Problem description

We have a lot of content, which makes it difficult for people to find what they're actually interested in. We'd like to add a section to the homepage that targets different personas, guiding them to specific pages with content tailored to their needs.

For example, something like: "Are you a student just starting out? Then check this out: xxx."

Typical personas attending the conference:

  • OSS maintainers: Interested in the Summit, CPython core topics (since their tools depend on it), connecting with other OSS maintainers, community topics and sprints
  • Professional developers / corporate devs: Mainly come for talks, workshops, networking, and meeting the maintainers of the libraries they use.
  • Community members: They usually hear about EP through word of mouth and don’t use the website much. They're more interested in organized social events, community tables, and often volunteer or contribute onsite, so we don't need to target them directly

We do collect some data on seniority via Pretix, where attendees indicate their experience level and age. However, this data has strong survivorship bias, as it shows only those who registered, not the people we’re missing. It’s worth considering how we can attract different audiences beyond our usual crowd.
