The initial eb example isn't working in 2021

• first of all it was a mistake with the mithril (undefined variable at runtime on the server side)
• after I'd fixed that, the project was still "red" (502). I checked all logs to find out why but I could find anything except some strange messages about time synchronization. It looked like the node server wasn't running.
• eventually I'd started from scratch and I was choosing all the default settings along the way, particularly Amazon Linux 2
