Description
All pilots must receive one 24-hour period free from duty in any seven-day period (12.C.1.b).
- Given 24 hours-plus on a layover, a day off, or an international buffer counts as the pilot’s 1-in-7.
- If there is no assignment, one must be notified before beginning the R-day that they is released to qualify for a 1-in-7.
- e.g., a pilot has a string of 10 consecutive days of reserve and hasn’t been used after six days. CRS must call before the seventh R-day and release the pilot from the requirement to be available for notification for that seventh day. The pilot must then be available on the eighth day.
- e.g., a reserve on RA for a six-day block will be removed on Day 6 for a 1-in-7 if the pilot sat the phone availability period from 1200 to 0130 before Day 1 (i.e., did not acknowledge a crew notification of release to show of a trip prior to phone availability Day 1).
